Osteoporosis Prevention: Start from Young
«

Many of us only talk about prevention of osteoporosis after menopause. But do you know that the actual prevention of osteoporosis should start at teen age as that is the time when the bones start to store up calcium. And after about the age of 25, the bone start losing calcium until after menopause the rate of calcium loss is higher compared to premenopause years. Hence, since young age, a lady (or even for male) should have sufficient calcium in her diet so that by the time she reaches menopause, the is still sufficient calcium reserve in the bones. In addition, physical exercise is important as it promotes bone calcium uptake.
Hope this helps.

Beginning a lifelong commitment to exercise and healthy nutrition while you are still young will reduce your risk of developing osteoporosis later in life. While proper nutrition and exercise are important during the bone building years, it is no less important as you get older. It may be necessary to take a supplement increase your intake of certain vitamins and minerals important for bone health.
