Blood blister operation

I have a blood blister on my lower lip. I saw a consultant recently and he offered me an operation to get rid of it. He told me that there would be a scar from my lip down to the middle of my chin. Why should the scar be so big? They only cut the blood vessel from the lip! I am worried that the scar will be very visible and ugly... Has anyone undergone similar surgery? How did it look afterwards?
