Stem Cells and Alternative Medicine

Is stem cell therapy going to become like alternative medicine?  Well pateints are currently going outside the US to recieve therapy for example for heart disease

Hopefully Phase III trials by companies such as Osiris Therapeutics will allow stem cells in to commercially available for all in the US.

Now that Obama is president and is opening up funding for stem cells, I believe the United States will redouble their efforts in researching stem cell technology. There are a lot of promising leads for this field of medicine. There are also a lot of alternative medicine sources within the U.S., so I'm not sure the comparison is apt.
