Today I had my transfusion and asked my haematologist and her secretary to come and see me as I had some money to give.
I've never been good at remembering "Shave for a Cure" dates, but this year I wanted to do something about it.
My brother in law and I work together so I asked him if he would shave his hair for the LBF fundraiser.
He said yes. The plan was to wait for the dates of next year's "shave for a cure" but instead he went ahead growing his hair and getting sponsorship from all our work colleagues and even our boss wasn't off the hook.
I asked my mate to do most of the head shaving and a male colleague to shave my brother's face.
Me? I took photos so my brother couldn't blame me if I did damage.
So today I posed with my specialist and handed over $415.70 for the LBF.
I feel so proud to know that my brother was willing to let me loose one his hair and that both the teachers gave their support.
I am very lucky to have such wonderful people in my life.
Oh and thank you to our boss who allowed us to fundraise among the staff and for parting with $50.
What a great way to head into christmas.

So nice to hear that "shave for a cure" program. More similar activities should be organised not only for thalassemia. But I am really touched by the deed of your brother.

May God Bless all of you!

Thank you. They have many fundraising programmes that are run. The money goes to the Leukaemia and Blood Foundation for All blood conditions. Thalassaemia is not that well known over here.
Yes I am pretty touched by my brother's deed and also grateful as I think of the other people who need the LBF services as much as me.
God bless you too and have a great christmas.
