What is the difference between the two?

And what is traditional medicine? Medicine from the West, or from the East?

After all we all have different traditions, no?

I will say both of them are similar but not the same. Traditional medicine originates from ancient age and it can be used in the main stream of medicine if scientifically proven to be effective. Complementary medicine on the other hand is medical pratice which cannot stand by its own due to lack of scientific proof but is believed to have beneficial effects and to complement the main stream of medicine.

Actually traditional medicine is considered that one which is accepted by the scientific world. Medical ways of for example Chinese medicine are not recorded properly so it is a risk to use it.

Not forgetting that Hypnotherapy has a lot of factual evidence to support its effectiveness and is now used in some hospitals for anesthesia where normal anesthetics can't be used for one reason or another and also in dentistry.

Alternative and complementary medicine is the name normally given to those medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not currently considered to be part of conventional Western medicine. Well known examples include herbal and other nutritional supplements, acupuncture, aromatherapy and homeopathy.
Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine
Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine
