effects of using contact lenses

What are the harmful effects of using contact lenses for a long period of time?  Can anyone help me on this?

Lenses can irritate the eye because of dryness due to problems with tear production. Tear production may be inadequate, especially in older individuals.

The most dreaded and potentially blinding risk of contact lens wear is corneal ulceration, or infection. Corneal ulcerations occur more commonly in soft contact lens wearers, because the comfort level of soft contact lenses allow one to wear them for extended periods of time, thus increasing the potential for overnight use.

not quite sure, i have known several people wearing contact lenses for years and they are still successful wearers. i think it depends on the kind of contacts that you are wearing and of course how you take care of them, hygiene is the most important thing of all to consider.

Well as per my opinion towards the contact lens that their is no adverse effect due to contact wear as the primary correction, as a matter of fact, I know several people who have used contacts from the 1960 and are still successful companies.
