Yes it is. There are only 2 people in New Zealand who have been able to access the drug. One pays and the other patient has been granted special authority to have it funded. At the moment Pharmac wants to push funding for desferpox but you still have to do the chelation with desferal which in my case is silly as it doesn't rule out the ongoing issues I am having with it.
