Pain asociated with chest movement is usually due to underlying musculoskeletal problem like costochondritis. Can you elaborate your symptoms more?

Your symptoms are not specific and I would still think that it is of musculoskeletal origin. May be you could try simple analgesic like paracetamol.  Smiley

No Amanda,
This cannot be appendicitis, because appendicitis pain is felt in the lower right quadrant of the abdomen.

Any pain in this area, which Marteinn mentions, associated with breathing movements would lead one to conclude that it is due to the inflammation of the intercostal muscles (muscles between the ribs, which relax and contract during breathing). Paracetemol, as suggested by tan_md, will give relief.

Why does it happen on weekends is something we have to find out. Here, Marteinn has to do some introspection:

Do you have a particular activity on or just before the weekend starts, which places a strain on the left side of your chest, or abdomen or the left shoulder and hand? It could be anything like a game, or a sitting posture for a prolonged time?
Do you have a drinking binge?
Let us know marteinn.
