My uncle aged 55 constantly complained of dizziness. His blood pressure is always low; around 98/70mmHg and pulse rate 70bpm. He is otherwise healthy with no other medical problems.

What might be the reason for him to have such low blood pressure?
Is there anything that can be done to solve his problem?

Need some advice here

Thank you

There are many caueses of low blood pressure. But if he has been having this for many years and only recently developed symptoms, there maight be other reasons than low blood pressure. Has he undergone all the relevant tests and investigations?

Initially the dizziness only occurred when he was rising from a squatting to a standing position. However for the past three years, the attack can even happen on and off when he was standing still or waking up early in the morning. He went to his family doctor several times for this problem and was prescribed betahistine mesilate which was not very helpful. No other investigation was done so far.

Seems that he had postural hypotension in the beginning and was then worsening.

Maybe its dehydration, moderate bleeding unto your internal organs and severe inflammation inside your body.  Pulmonary embolism may also be one the cause because the blood clot blocks the flow of the blood into the left ventricle from the thereby creating a diminished or less pumping action to the right ventricle.

Well to control B.P you have to take care of few things and then his B.P would surely be in control.
Firstly he should avoid oily foods and intake of salt should be minimized.
He should do regular exercise and this all will make him absolutely healthy.

The causes of low blood pressure can range from dehydration to problems with the way your brain signals your heart to pump blood. Low blood pressure is treatable, but it's important to find out what's causing your condition so that it can be properly treated.

What is low blood pressure (hypotension)?
Anybody with a reading if 90/60 mmHg or lower is regarded as having hypotension (low blood pressure). People with low blood pressure have some protection from factors which raise blood pressure to undesirable levels. However, low blood pressure may be a sign of an underlying problem, and can cause unpleasant symptoms.

There are three things you should be educated on. This will be for your information only, but ultimately, however, the physician attending on him should be treating him. You should know 1) causes 2) Treatment to be given and 3)the diet, he should follow.
1) Causes: Low B.P. could be due to reduced blood volume because of internal or external bleeding, cardiac causes such as an attack, or pulmonary embolism or pericarditis or due to medicines taken for these ailments. It could also be due to some other causes and it is not possible to elaborate them all here.
2) Treatment given is by identifying the cause and treating it. There is no thumb rule treatment for low BP as the cause has to be eliminated to cure the low BP. That is why, here, your physician is important.
3) Diet : It has to be a low carb diet. 4 to 5 frequent small meals will be ideal. It should consist of fruits and vegetables, chicken and fish, whole grains and milk.Remember, malnutrition is an important cause of low BP and therefore a good nourishing diet on the lines mentioned above should be followed. Alcohol should be avoided and 4 to 5 litres  of water should be taken everyday. One tsf of unrefined sea salt should be taken with a glass of water everyday.

Now, from your history, it seems your uncle has postural hypotension. Besides medicines given, he should be encouraged to drink plenty of coffee as caffeine constricts the blood vessels and raises the blood pressure. He should also be advised more salt intake. Medicines given for low BP have side effects and he should regularly follow up with his physician.

Pulmonary embolism ,Pericarditis , Slow heart rate and weakened heart muscles are the primary reason for low pressure. Ask him to consult a doctor to take immediate action.

First of all you should use the balanced food with low use of salt. You should do proper exercise which is the best solution for any type of health problem. If you keep your food proper then it is not difficult for you to handle low blood pressure problem.
