I hope that this year has found you all in good health or at the very least, coping.
This year has been hectic with work and juggling heatlh. September last year I was granted special authority to access the ferripox tablet to help me with my fight against my iron overload. I am still on my 5 days a week desferal plan but now take tablets 3 times daily to help with ridding the body of excess iron. I am still in the 4,000 but the cardiologist has been happy with my heart as it has settled down and I am not having any episodes of tachycardia. My heamotologist is happy as this report shows that we are ridding the body of iron and hopefully as time goes by it will decrease further. I am positive it will work and that one day I maybe able to just have the tablets instead of injections. It has been encouraging to read from my thalpals that some of their ferritin levels have come down and that a couple of pals are in the 100. This has certainly helped me with my motivation.
Sometimes it can be disheartening dealing with medical issues one after the other, so forgive me if I have been laxed about writing.
At the moment my diabetes nurse and I are working on getting my sugar levels under control. At the moment I am on Novorapid but I might be going back to Actrapid. I just had an appointment with Heidi my physiotherapist designing a hand aid to help with my hands. My right hand has started giving me grief so I am trying to get all my medical appointments dealt with before school starts next week. I have also just started a Teacher Aide course with 4 papers I need to complete so I am pretty excited to be updating my qualifications while still working with my special needs children.
Don't forget to feel free to ask questions that fellow Thalassaemics snd I may be able to help or answer. Take care
