Hello, i am asmatic since birth and in my childhood my asmatic was chronic but with treatment it was healing, and to a moment it was completely healed, but in my teenager i started smoking, at the start it did not had any effect over me but with time i became a heavy smoker and then my asma started re appearing again! I was using my Ventolin inhaler but now i need my inhaler 7-8 times a day, as i run or make some quick exercise or anything, i just get tired quickly and need my inhaler, i am fed up and i want to stop smoking and heal my asma! But i cannot stop smoking! Will the inhaler have any side effects or will it affect me because its now 4-5 years i am having my inhaler everyday! Please help me and give me some suggestion so as to find a solution for me!

Any point of view will be welcomed!

thank you for your help!

What inhaler are you using? Is it salbutamol inhaler? It has no major side effects usually other than some tremor and palpitation.
If you want to get better, by hook or crook you MUST stop smoking!! Cigarette smoke is a KNOWN trigger of asthmatic attack. Furthermore, the smoke will destroy the mucocilliary action of your airways leading to ineffective clearing of the mucus and persistent airway irritation!
PLEASE.....STOP SMOKING....

I have had asthma since I was young and I smoked when I was in my twenties. It did affect my asthma and I was using my rescue inhaler(ventolin) more often. Using your ventolin inhaler too much can be dangerous. It can speed up your heart and possibly lead to a heart attack. Be careful and pay attention to your heart rate. I take Advair which is a anti-inflammatory and helps prevent constriction of airways. It's called Seretide in Europe. This drug has helped me reduce the amount of times I need my rescue inhaler. In fact I probably only need my rescue inhaler once every three months or so. WHen I run out of the Advair, I end up using my Ventolin at least once a day if not more. Ask your doctor if there are any medications that can help you better control your asthma and also ask him about any medicines or patches that will help you quit smoking.
