I have a problem. It's been almost 3 weeks now, and I can feel strong heartbeat in my stomach. I also notice that my tummy is slightly bulged. It makes it uncomfortable to sleep, as I can feel my heart pumping hard as well. I have no pain or whatsoever. I did do some crunches on and off, and I'm not sure if it affects it. I don't think it's heart palpitation as when I lie down, and feel my abdomen, the pulsation is real strong. I am also very sensitive to caffein or tanin product, hence I abstain totally from them. I haven't been stressed as well, so, if that helps with the diagnosis.

Well, abdominal aortic aneurysm is a posibility especially the condition is usually asymtomatic or has non-specific symtoms. I urge you to consult your doctor as soon as possible.

Can you feel your pulse coordinate with the pulsing sensation in your abdomen?
Another differential diagnosis to think about may also be a hernia, they can pulse as well and be enhanced with lifting and working out.
See a doctor as soon as you can in case of a AAA as they are usually fatal. I have only seen one make it to surgical interventions and survive from it in my field.
All the best in your situation.

ya, i think all the informations are very useful for Sarah's condition..
for me, AAA might be less likely diagnosis as here age and no other medical conditions.. However, due to its life-threatening possibilities, is better to put it into considerations too..
Yupe, for her age, and stress related, most likely PUD or hiatus hernia is likely. sometimes patient will feel it is coordinate with heart-beat, due to over-attension onto it... so this can put into considerations..
another possible differential diagnosis tat we can think of is psychology effects of stress...
maybe Sarah u can tell us, either this problem happen during "peak" of stress.. coz when a ppl stress,, they can have this type of symptoms of palpitations.. reduce sleep, increase adrenaline rush...
so possible this lead to the problem u have..
anyway, to be sure, a consultation to Cardiologist will make a good diagnosis.  Wink

Hi guys, thank you for all your helpful advises. Firstly, yes, the heart-beat in my stomach does co-ordinate with my heart beat. Speaking about stress. I can't recognize "stress" in my life! I do work alot but it's not something which I can't cope and will lead to any nervous breakdown.

All in all, I will see a doctor real soon and I will most definitely keep you all posted with my condition.

if you do not have symptoms of hypotension e.g. feeling dizzy, blurred vision. It should be alright. again, even if one has abdominal aotic aneurysm, before it ruptures, he should be stable. So, hypotension here is not the issue since you are still able to reply my message. The danger part of aneurysm is when it has ruptured. It can be fatal within minutes.
I URGE YOU TO CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR AND UPDATE US HERE.

Could it be just a normal pulsation from the abdominal aorta? 'Coz I kinda feel mine too....  Shocked Though the only abdominal bulge I feel is my own fat layer Grin

But please do consult a doctor. And let us know.

May i know how old are you Sarah?
do you smoke?
is your cholesterol level high?

163cm and 48kg.. nice figure  Wink

the buldging part may be your muscle
try to lie on your back
put your hand over the 'buldging' area
and lift up your head
if you can feel that the area is contracting, then it should be your muscle

and i agree with cecilia
many of us can feel our own pulsation
especially when your abdomen is flat
and it is normal  Grin

but if the problem is really bothering you, then is good to consult your doc  Smiley
all the best
