I am a 21 yrs old unmarried girl. I am about to get married this year in December. Earlier i didnt cared about this issue much but suddenly i have started having so much of trouble concentrating on anything else due to this problem.

My periods started at a very early age of 11. Since then my cycle was pretty irregular but by the age of 16 it became quite stable and regular. Since then i was fine and had no problems. Now last year in 2007 things were fine when i had my last periods in Sep 2007 and after that i got periods after 3 months in Dec 2007 after a full long gap of 90 days approx. In between i consulted a gynecologist and she asked me for FHS, LH and Prolactin tests as well as ultrasound of uterus.

This is the first time I have come on this forum and I am sharing my details so I might get a sound reply from some person related to this. My results are as follows:

Prolactin ------ 9.7ng/ml
F.S.H ---- 7.9
L.H --- 11.6

I had these tests done in Nov and I got my periods eventually in dec 2007. Along with this my uterus altrasound revealed the following results:

UTERUS:
Anteverted uterus seen measuring 8.4*2.3*4.4 cm. No focal lesion seen.
Endometrial thickness 6.5 cm

Ovaries:
Right ovary 2.3*1.6
Left ovary 2.4 *1.4

No free fluid seen in cul de sac.

The last time i had periods was in Dec 2007 and now its almost 45 days again since i havent had periods. I know 45 days isnt much but then i am wondering until when is this irregular cycle continue.

What I am most concerned about is that is thing going to affect my pregnancy after marriage in any ways?

I am healthy and have no other syndromes. Am a virgin and have a healthy diet too. Please kindly advise me as to what I should do. IS it something serious that needs treatment??

Can I ask you a few questions?

1. May I know on what day of menses your FSH, LH and Prolactin are measured?
2. Do you suffer from Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhoea)?

Having irregular period indeed will cause problem when comes to the matter of conception especially for family planning. You can try a few cycles of oral contraceptive pills to regulate your menses. Otherwise, I don't see any big problem right now. By the way, what did your gynecologist tell you about the findings?

Well as i have mentioned last time I had periods on 16th Sep 2007 and after that I waited for 1.5 months before having the tests done. On 5th November I had these Prolactin, FSH and LH tests done i.e. 50 days after my periods ended and after that I got my next periods on 10th Dec 07 i.e. again 1 month after I had these tests done.

Now the last time i went to doctor was 10 Nov to show her the reports and she said you dont hav PCOC or sumthing i dont exactly remember the name. But i was very worried about my missing periods but she said I can give you HARMONES but i will avoid it unless its like 6 months that you dont get periods. She didnt gave me ANY medication but asked me to take no work stress or anything.

After that i had my periods on 10th Dec but not its 28th Jan again but i havent had them. Yes i do get pains but just on the first day and its nothing extraordinary. I take pain killer and it gets better. And i get a very normal flow which usually ends in 6 to 7 days.

But now what I am dead worried about is that my mom n I am not that close in these matters and as my marriage is near and i am too fond of kids I dont wana miss having them even if it costs my life. But again I wante to have them like an year or 2 yrs after my marriage but plz cud let me know if my reports are normal. The doctor isnt ready to share it with me but i am too damn worried please help me.

Thanks for your reply. Its a hope to me atleast some1 is interested enough to reply..

Hi,
just a tip for the future.

work stress, hormonal issues, and many other such problems are there which working ladies face these days. am no different.

I recently came across an article in [link removed - spam], where they said some simple steps which women should follow in their regular lifestyle to avoid these bigger complexities in life at the later stages....
have been following some of the steps stated by them and found them really usefull...

Try visiting the gynecologist and consult your problems.  Some women experience that kind of issue, due to stress which may lead to hormonal imbalance or ti could be a problem on your reproductive system.
